Program: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | Sutton Center, 2nd Floor | 3.0 MCLE Credits

Public Education and the Law

With an increase in violent crime and staff misconduct in schools and its associated media attention, this presentation will focus on best practices and effective strategies to respond to inquiries from the media.  The seminar will also include the ever popular “Skating Tour” of recent laws and regulations, as well as a review of court and administrative decisions affecting public schools. Advice will be offered from legal and communications experts as to how districts can best develop effective strategies to respond to a crisis in a legally defensible manner and present themselves appropriately in the court of public opinion. Official interpretations of law and regulations affect how school boards govern and operate their schools.  Hear how your district might need to adapt to satisfy changes in legal requirements. *The 2020 Edition of “Public Education and the Law” will be provided to each participant.*
